How do you use Make (Integromat) with Canva design automation?

Connect Layerre's Make module to your Canva-imported templates. Build a scenario that triggers on new data (from Sheets, Airtable, webhooks) and generates design variants automatically.

Make (formerly Integromat) is a visual automation platform that connects apps together in "scenarios." You can use it with Layerre to automate Canva design generation without writing code.

Setting up the integration:

1. Import your Canva design into Layerre

Share your Canva design, paste the link in Layerre, and get your template ID and layer names.

2. Create a Make scenario

A typical scenario has three parts:

  • Trigger: What starts the automation (new row in Google Sheets, new order in Shopify, scheduled timer)
  • Action: Layerre module that generates the design variant
  • Output: Where the result goes (Google Drive, email, Slack, etc.)

Example scenarios:

Google Sheets → Layerre → Google Drive:

  1. Trigger: Google Sheets "Watch New Rows"
  2. Map columns to Layerre template fields
  3. Layerre generates the image
  4. Upload to a Google Drive folder

Shopify → Layerre → Email:

  1. Trigger: Shopify "New Order"
  2. Map order data (customer name, product, quantity) to template fields
  3. Layerre generates a personalized thank-you card
  4. Send via Gmail with the image attached

Airtable → Layerre → Slack:

  1. Trigger: Airtable "New Record"
  2. Map Airtable fields to template layers
  3. Layerre renders the image
  4. Post to a Slack channel for review

Pro tips for Make + Layerre:

  • Use Make's "Iterator" module to process multiple rows at once
  • Add a "Router" to generate different templates for different data types
  • Use "Error Handler" modules to catch and retry failed renders
  • Schedule scenarios to run at specific times for batch processing
  • Use Make's built-in data store to track which records have been processed
